"I love those who love me, and those who
seek me diligently find me."  -  Prov. 8:17

I had been watching this young buck, still in velvet, for quite some time as he fed on a distant hillside. Gradually he made his way closer to me before disappearing in an overgrown field. When he suddenly reappeared, he was within range for a photo. Since I was wearing a camouflage jacket and was hidden in brush myself, I began taking pictures hoping I would not be seen. But the soft sound of my camera's shutter clicking away turned both his head and ears in my direction as he stared intently right at me. But he couldn't make out from where this strange sound was coming. He slowly made his way forward until he stopped and posed for this image. His eyes never left me as we had this standoff for several minutes. All it took was a slight repositioning of my hand for him to identify me. Then, in a flash, he was gone. His diligent searching had paid off. Seek, Jesus said, and you will find. Coming into the presence of God to find him and to know him requires a heart that desires his fellowship more than anything else. It requires more than sitting in a pew once a week or using religious words or doing religious things. Knowing about God is not the same as knowing God. Your eyesight should be as focused and intent as this buck's eyes were. The words of an old hymn say it well, "Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face, and the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace." These are the facts: first, God loves those who love him, and second, only those who seek him diligently will ever find him. Let your heart direct your eyes, and let your eyes seek until they find.  -  John
