"The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies
never come to an end; they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness."  -  Lam. 3:22-23

   Whenever I need to recharge, and have the time to do so, I head to the Dolly Sods Wilderness in the mountains of West Virginia. If you are fortunate enough to be there by yourself (which, sadly, is becoming harder and harder to do), you will experience a feeling of solitude and grandeur that will leave you in awe. And, if you are there in the fall when the blueberries and huckleberries turn into a brilliant red, it will take your breath away. I took this image early in the morning when the mist was still blanketing the ground. What love God must have for his creatures that he would surround us with such beauty, and what mercy he must have to so bless those who so often rebel against him. His mercies never come to an end, at least not in this life. But there will come a time when he returns that mercy will no longer be given to those who, in spite of all evidence, remain in disbelief. These mercies are renewed every morning and showered on us all. Oh, that we would sense it more! Oh, that we would see his majesty and his holiness more! I certainly sense these things every time I find myself alone in the Dolly Sods Wilderness as the mist rises in the morning. Then I wonder, why don't I sense his presence more every day in every place? Why do I allow what is mundane to displace what is profound and spiritual? Why can I be in his presence and still not feel the need to fall to my knees? Yes, it is true, great is the Lord's faithfulness. And it is equally true, great is our unfaithfulness. Lord, teach us to sense your mercy, your faithfulness, and your holiness. Teach us, above all, to worship.  -  John
