"For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with
a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel,
and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And
the dead in Christ will rise first."  -  I Thess. 4:16

Photographing flying birds is hard. Even finding a flying bird through a telephoto lens is difficult, let alone maintaining focus. For every successful image I have, I have ten more that have to be discarded. This particular osprey was captured during a dive and, of the several images I took during its dive, this was the only one I was able to keep. Ospreys feed almost exclusively on fish, so they are almost always found near water. They soar slowly over water looking for any fish that is swimming close to the surface, then they dive with outstretched talons and snatch the unsuspecting fish right out of the water. The fish never know they are in danger until it is too late. Scripture tells us that one day our Lord will descend from heaven to judge all mankind. There will be a cry from an archangel and the sounding of a trumpet, but it will be too late to rewrite our lives. On that day every knee will bow and every tongue confess his lordship. Acceptance and grace will be dispensed to all who have put their trust in him, and wrath will be poured out on those who have not. Some will receive mercy and others justice. No one will receive injustice. All pride will be crushed and all self-righteousness will be shown to be nothing but filthy rags. There will be no place to hide then, but there is a place to hide now. Admit who you are and acknowledge who he is. And then run. Run into his arms. He will receive all who come broken with empty arms and only one confession, "Lord, have mercy on me a sinner." If you do, when he ascends back to heaven, he will carry you there with him. A great descent is coming. Be ready.  -  John
