Busy Fall Ahead
Busy Fall Ahead for 36th Street!
by Doug Kashorek
Without a big event ahead like our Centennial or our summer series, it may seem like life has slowed down at 36th Street. That isn’t true. Rather, we have a lot of events in the planning stage and behind-the-scenes serving going on through Thanksgiving, especially with a time change coming for 11/3 and weather growing colder. Thank you to all who’ve been transporting those who don’t like to drive after dark, giving so much to Disaster Relief for those affected by recent hurricanes, and donating winter goods for our pantry & closet.
Several will attend the WVSOP Lectureships this week on the book of Philippians, where I will get to present on Tuesday afternoon on “Paul’s Son in the Gospel” from my scholarly paper I submitted last spring. We have a Bible class this Thursday at Love & Care to teach at 7 pm and a service at 2:30 pm to conduct out there next Sunday, 10/27, followed by a Ladies Inspiration Day meeting at 5 pm in the MPR. The monthly Sing at Love & Care will be the next day, 10/28, at 7 pm, and on Thursday, 10/31, from 6:00-7:30 pm, we’ll have Trunk or Treat in our parking lot.
This evening’s service will be a Singing Request night from songs you’ve been writing on the marker board, and the evening of 11/3 will be a Biblical Question & Answer night. At the beginning of October, we added the 1:00 pm time to Wednesday afternoons that will run through the darker time of year through the end of March and began at that time an in-depth Sunday & Wednesday study of The T’s, Paul’s five epistles that start with that letter, that will run through mid-December.
Our intern continues in his first semester at the West Virginia School of Preaching during the week while teaching and/or preaching for us on Sundays. The bridal shower for Aidan & Michaela will be at 2:30 pm on 11/9 in preparation for a January 11, 2025 wedding. A special Thanksgiving Program will take place on 11/27 at only the 7:00 pm time.
